Traveled from London for fish and chips at that famous place down the street -- you know the one. Unfortunately, that place was closed on Sunday.
Yelp led us to Jenny's where we found a satisfactory replacement. The restaurant was crowded with locals enjoying an afternoon snack. Sitting by the window, we watched the people go by while we ate fish and chips. They were hot, juicy, and the chips were plentiful.
Wished we had saved room for dessert -- the sundaes looked fabulous! -

Cheap, quick, & "the way everything around here used to be" commented my extremely local friend. With all the posh, trendy, overblown fare 'round Muswell Hill, Jenny's was a gigantic burst of fresh air. A varied menu, veggie burgers for 2.95, jacket potatoes galore, sandwiches, soups, plus napkins served to each customer between a fork and a knife (amazing to watch in person). We fed 3 people for 16 pounds and were quite satisfied. OK, nothing seemed too organic or cutting edge in any way, but can't we just have some cheap fun???

I stopped into Jenny's for a quick bite to eat the other day and I'd say it was okay. I ordered the chicken and mushroom pie with gravy and peas/mashed potatoes. The pie's bread was very hard, and was difficult to cut and eat, and the chicken inside as well as the mushrooms were very scarce. The gravy was plentiful but mediocre, and drowned the peas and basically the whole meal. The others I was eating with enjoyed their orders but one of them received the wrong order.

This is a run of the mill Jennys. You get cheap food and a Jenny's style.
My mum loves Jenny's. You can get a burger and chips at a great price. This place is a small cafe style restaurant with a very traditional English menu. I do not really eat here but my mum goes here often.
She sits here with her friends for hours on a cup of tea and a jacket potato or burger and they do not mind. You can find people sitting in this place reading the paper over a cuppa. No one gives a damn.
